Healing Experience...

I just couldn't stop cursing my previous dentist. Had he been here in Pune today, I would have definitely killed him !

On Saturday 4th July 2009, at 11:50 AM, I lost my one precious tooth !

Approximately two months ago, I approached Dr. Pallavi for my dental check-ups. There she found my 1st molar tooth from left of lower jaw is being root-canalled (a long back before 8 years), but still cap is not fitted (cap is must if root canal surgery is being done on your tooth). I was agreed to fit a ceramic cap. But before fitting, she took one x-ray of that tooth, just to check whether surgery is begin done properly or not. After the examination of x-ray, I got stunned when she said, "two metal threads (used to clean the roots) are still there, one is deep inside the root, and another stuck in the bone !". For this she later approached Androdentist. He in turn suggested to remove this tooth ASAP, b’coz it was nearly impossible to remove the thread from bone, and if ignored, it may cause severe pain in future. So Dr. Pallavi told me to decide what I want to do.

After a long thinking over it again and again, finally I decided to get it removed. What a courageous decision ! And on Saturday 4th July 2009 at 11:30 Am was my appointment. Proactively, I ate something thinking that I would not be eating anything whole day once my tooth gets removed.

Nervous. I went there. Already one patient inside, I was hearing very familiar sounds of teeth cleaning instruments from inside. When my turn comes out, I went inside. Leaned back on the patient's chair. There was Dr. Pallavi's assistant Nayna. Nayna was gathering all the required instruments like Forceps, Probes, Explorers etc, I was staring at them coldly. My heart beats were already reached at the apex. While Pallavi was collecting all the reports and x-rays, she was asking me whether I have ate or not, telling me what precautionary measures I would have to follow after the Tooth Extraction surgery. I was just nodding.

She asked me to open the mouth. "AAAAAAWwwww...." Then she irrigated my left jaw with the anesthetic syringe. And within a minute it felt insensible. Then she hammered my tooth from outside in and inside out thrice, that loosened the grip of the tooth on the jaw. It was not paining at all, but I was afraid of loosing it, my eyes open broadly. Only some sound was coming
out of my mouth like hammering some metal. Till then I had thought many times not to go for Extraction. I was needed moral support here. Thank god...Nayna was quite beautiful ;-) I am damn sure she was showing her sympathy ! :)

Finally, Pallavi picked Forceps up, opened its jaws, placed it over my tooth, fixed it tight, and with two-three shakings she pulled my tooth out of my jaw leaving behind the cavity full of blood coming out of the wound. I just could hear the voice when she was removing my tooth, a crick sound just like we try to break wet stick. My heart beats increased when I saw approx 15-20 cotton buds wet in my blood placed collectively in the bowl. After this, she removed that thread which was there in the bone. She tucked 2-3 buds in the blank cavity and asked me to keep pressing against this bud for whole day. She showed me that tooth. It was completely red. My lovely tooth !

That whole day and next day I just couldn't sleep well due to the pain I was feeling after effect of anesthesia got over. So this was my healing weekend ! Worst ever !
